Kensington Hotel Stay Ends in £3,000 Compensation for Businessman

When Mr Sagoo checked into the Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington on a business trip in March 2025, he expected a peaceful night’s sleep before a busy week of meetings. Instead, he endured a horrifying ordeal that led to physical discomfort, emotional distress, and lasting anxiety, all caused by a bed bug infestation in his hotel room.

Thanks to the support of Oliver Linton and the legal team at Holiday Claims Bureau, Mr Sagoo successfully claimed £3,000 in compensation for his suffering.

Bed Bug Exposure and Its Consequences

On the night of 17 March 2025, Mr Sagoo retired to bed before midnight. At around 4:30am, he awoke with severe itching and discovered live insects crawling in his bedding. Alarmed, he moved the infested bedding into the bathroom and immediately alerted hotel staff, who relocated him to another room.

The bites, mainly on his neck and back, caused intense irritation and disrupted sleep for several nights. Photographic evidence confirmed the presence of bed bugs and supported the claim. Medical evidence we obtained concluded that Mr Sagoo had suffered both physical and psychological injuries that would take weeks to months to fully resolve.

“I Felt Uncomfortable and Anxious the Entire Week”

Speaking about the ordeal, Mr Sagoo said: “The bites were painful and the lack of sleep made it hard to concentrate on work. I felt constantly anxious about the possibility of further bites and couldn’t relax in the hotel. It also caused tension at home, my wife was worried I had brought the infestation back with me.”

Legal Expertise That Delivered Results

Oliver Linton, who represented Mr Sagoo’s case, handled claim with precision and empathy, ensuring Mr Sagoo received fair compensation: “Bed bug bite claims are unfortunately becoming more common. In Mr Sagoo’s case, we gathered strong evidence and acted swiftly to ensure his rights were upheld. No one should have to endure such discomfort, especially while staying in a hotel that’s expected to meet health and safety standards.”
