Mystery surrounds deaths of two holidaymakers at Elysees Dream Beach Hotel, Hurghada

Two Danish men staying at the Elysees Dream Beach Hotel in Hurghada, Egypt have been found dead in their rooms under mysterious circumstances.

Verner Strunck and Leif Kristensen were found dead in their beds 2 days apart during their stay over New Year and early January.  The cause of death has yet to be established, but following the deaths of two British holidaymakers at another hotel in the tourist hotspot in 2018, there are suspicions about food or air-borne poisoning.

The body of one of the men has been flown home to Denmark, while the other remains in Egypt at the time of publishing.  At this stage, the Hotel is stating that the deaths were of natural causes, while the families of the deceased try to get answers.  Strunck’s son Alex told BT Tabloid:

“I’ve tried to get an autopsy of my father, as it might ease things if I know the cause of death. There wasn’t anything wrong with him and I spoke with his friend, Lief Kristensen, on New Year’s Day after my father died, and Leif was very sad and shocked. But a few days later, when I discovered that Leif had died in his bed as well, the whole thing sounded even more mysterious.”

Loveholidays.com continues to offer all-inclusive package deals to the hotel for UK holidaymakers.  TripAdvisor reviews for the hotel are mixed, with more than one in three reviewers rating their stay as ‘poor’ or ‘terrible’.
