Holiday Claims Bureau win compensation for client who suffered swimming pool accident on holiday

Our client, aged 6 at the time of the accident, was staying at the Hotel RIU Karamboa in February on a holiday booked with TUI.
Our client was in the swimming pool at his hotel walking in the shallow end. All of a sudden, our client started crying and felt pain underneath his left foot and left big toe. He had cut his foot on the jagged and sharp edges of an area in the swimming pool where blue pool tiles were missing on the surface of the swimming pool.
His foot and toe were bleeding profusely, and he sought medical treatment from a first aider. The rest of his holiday was significantly impacted as he was unable to go in the swimming pool. He was able to make a full recovery within four weeks.
On return from holiday, our client’s family instructed the Holiday Claims Bureau to make a claim for compensation against TUI.
We argued that the swimming pool was in a state of disrepair, it was not safe for use and the tiles should have been replaced to avoid holidaymakers suffering injury due to the broken swimming pool tiles.
Following negotiations with TUI, the Holiday Claims Bureau were able to secure a settlement of £1000 for the client.
