Holiday Claims Bureau Secures £2,500 Compensation for Egypt Holiday Pool Injury

The holiday accident solicitors at Holiday Claims Bureau have helped secure compensation for a client who suffered injury on a holiday to Egypt, booked through TUI.

Our client, aged 8 at the time of the accident, was in the hotel swimming pool at the Coral Sea Aqua Club in Sharm El Sheikh, when he cut his foot on the base of the pool. On further inspection, there were numerous tiles missing and falling off with loose screws at the base of the pool and pool vents not properly screwed down.
Our client suffered a number of lacerations, and he had a piece of ceramic tile embedded into his foot.

Our client was in pain and bleeding in the pool causing him to panic. He was rushed to the hotel medical centre where he was treated, and the ceramic shard was removed.

This left the client unable to enjoy the swimming pool for the remainder of his holiday, he was in tears and considerable pain, and his foot had to be regularly redressed for the duration of his holiday. This had a traumatic impact on what was supposed to be a family vacation.

Holiday Claims Bureau Instructed

On return from holiday, our client’s family instructed the Holiday Claims Bureau to make a claim for compensation against TUI.
Our expert legal team argued that the swimming pool was not safe for public use, its tiles needed replacing, and it needed to be thoroughly inspected to make sure it was free from hazards.
Following negotiations with TUI, the Holiday Claims Bureau were able to secure a settlement of £2,500 for the client.

Justice Was Delivered

Michael Walker, Partner at the Holiday Claims Bureau, said:

“This is an instance where lack of thorough inspection and maintenance led to degradation of the hotel pool facilities, and this ultimately led to injury.”

“In these circumstances, it was our client who paid the price from the hotel’s mismanagement, but our team was able to hold TUI to account and deliver justice to our clients. We have represented a number of clients who have been injured whilst using the hotel’s facilities, and the hotels and holiday companies need to put appropriate measures in place to prevent injury to their customers.”
