Bed Bug Claim Wins £1250 in Compensation

Our client, Gillian Browne, from Southport was on a UK holiday with her family in September 2021 staying at the Pendine Sands Holiday Park in Wales.
After waking up in the morning from her first night’s sleep, she found she had been bitten multiple times to her back, arms, legs and feet.
Initially, Gillian did not know what had caused the bites but upon inspecting the bed, she found that the bed sheets were covered with a number of bed bugs. These bugs were also found under the mattress and dropping marks were seen on the bed frame. Gillian was able to take photographs showing the bed bugs in the bed. She immediately reported it to staff at the resort and then left the  to return home, despite booking to stay for a further five nights.

Gillian instructed the Holiday Claims Bureau to make a claim for compensation against Parkdean resorts after making an enquiry through our website.
Following negotiations, the legal team at Holiday Claims Bureau were able to secure a settlement of £1250 for Gillian.
Gillian described it as a “horrendous and distressing experience”.

She asked: “How can this be allowed to happen when regular cleaning, especially at the time of the pandemic is essential? It is not expected in this day and age when cleanliness, particularly where COVID is concerned is of paramount importance”.
