Holidaymakers Instruct Holiday Claims Bureau After Suffering Allergic Reactions on Holiday
The Holiday Claims Bureau are receiving a worrying number of enquiries relating to children suffering an allergic reaction on holiday.
Despite holidaymakers making the hotels and tour operators aware of any allergies, these frightening experiences continue to occur.
Holiday Claims Bureau’s Latest Cases
In one instance, a young boy with an allergy to dairy specifically asked the chef at a hotel in Turkey for a dairy free pancake. The chef proceeded to serve the child a pancake telling him that it contained no dairy. Within minutes of eating the pancake, he became violently ill and had to go to hospital. He was then ill for the rest of the holiday and had to stay in the hotel room during the holiday for the whole family.
In another case, a 13-year-old child with an allergy to fish was at the buffet at a hotel in Mexico. The food was in different trays which were all signed and labelled. The child collected what he thought was a chicken burger which had a sign stating ‘chicken burgers’ above the tray. He then walked back to his table and took a bite out of the burger. He immediately suffered an allergic reaction and had difficulty breathing, a closed throat and his face started to swell. He turned out that the chicken burger was actually a fish burger and the chef had placed them in the wrong tray.
Upon their return from holiday, these holidaymakers contacted the Holiday Claims Bureau for free advice and we are now pursuing claims for compensation on their behalf.
